ifilm.com

January 15th, 2007

Ifilm is one of the net’s most popular video websites. It has video’s involving just about anything and everything. Videos ranging from a Halo sitcom to guys backyard wrestling to videos taken from the soldiers in Iraq, ifilm has it all. It works pretty much the same way as you tube does. Videos are posted by anybody signed up for ifilm, and posts can be left by other users of the site. Anybody who wants to see what’s going on in Iraq or even wants a good laugh could go onto this site and check out some of the seemingly endless amounts of videos, like this shocker http://www.ifilm.com/video/2803472/channel/viralvideo.

To even further expand the amount of content the site has, it even has links towards clips of television shows such as The Chappell’s Show, Reno911, Punk’d, and Wildboyz from such networks as Comedy Central, MTV, and MTV2. This could create some problems because some networks rely on people watching the actual network. If people stop watching the actual networks, then they will just shut down plain and simple. But one good thing about this site is that if you’re bored, you can check out some videos and have a laugh. Or, if you missed an episode of a show, you could search the site for that episode.

I like this site because it gives me access to thousands, maybe even hundreds of thousands of videos, all unique and different. All of their videos are categorized which makes finding a video faster and easier. Their categories include kitty cats, spoofs, Mr. T, Demolitions, and even Japanese TV! So, for example, if I wanted to see how a certain paintball gun works, I would search the gun type, and watch the video of it. Sometimes the comments help me as well. Some people will post things like “that gun sucks” or “if your going to use that gun, then you should upgrade it with…”

This site could be the next youtube. Anything can happen, and because of Google buying youtube, yahoo might be looking for a video site now. This would boost yahoo’s popularity in the internet world. Because of the amount of users on ifilm and how long it has been around, ifilm may be a more worthy purchase than youtube. You can even subscribe to ifilm. This will send you e-mails giving you information on current updates and new videos so that you’re never left out of the fun.

ifilm has videos for all ages. This doesn’t mean that it’s appropriate for all ages; it means that if you have a younger person on ifilm, he should have some sort of supervision because this is a site to upload videos. Anything could happen and your little kid could be watching stuff intended for older audiences. Even if he/she was accessing something as seemingly harmless as backyard wrestling, how do you think these people got these ideas in the first place? From watching other people do it!!!

So have some fun checking out the site. There are a lot of laughs, bumps and bruises waiting for you to watch.

ilike.com

January 15th, 2007

ilike.com is a site that lets you share music with everybody else signed up with it. How it works is the site , when you begin to sign up, will give you lists of artists/bands with a button beside each one asking if you like that particular artist/band. After about 9 pages with around 30 artists on each page, you will have created a profile. Within this profile are all of the choices you said you liked. The site will automatically search for other people with similar tastes in music.

Since the original list of artists/bands doesn’t have every single group that creates music, there is a search box where you can search for anybody you want. For example, Keith Urban wasn’t on the original list, so I made a search for him, and found him. I think they do this because I don’t think you, the individual, are going to want to sit in front of your computer for an hour clicking off every single artist you like out of thousands of choices. It will also let you listen to parts of the artists songs.

One of its best qualities is that if you have itunes downloaded, then you can download a toolbar from ilike to itunes. This toolbar will take all of your songs from itunes, and put them onto your profile. Ilike will also search for other users with the same taste in music as you. Not only will it do that, but it will give you suggestions on what other types of music you might like. Because it takes the songs information from your computer, it will also figure out how many times you have listened to each song. This also shows on the artist’s profile; who has listened to their songs the most.

This is a great way for people to share their music with others and find people with similar tastes in music. I can’t imagine any problems that could arise from this type of website. What is good about this site is the amount of people on it, and the variety of different music. For some people that have tastes in music that may not be as popular as others, they can finally find other people with the same tastes. That sometimes happens with me personally (Keith Urban). And because of this site, I’ve found a bunch of “Urbanites” so to speak.

This site is suitable for all ages and I encourage everybody to at least check it out. Who knows, you might find some new music that you like that you never would have thought about listening to before.

…One word. Stupidity

January 15th, 2007

Some people are… just plain moron’s. For example, if you can’t handle a weapon properly, than just don’t try. In this video, a man fires off a .50 caliber pistol. For all of you out there who aren’t familiar with guns, calibers, and such, let me just tell you, that anything that fires a .50 caliber round is going to have kick back. Not the kind of kick back that normal 9mm’s have, which are standard police pistols, but a hell of a lot more. And through this video, you’ll see what I mean.  http://www.ifilm.com/video/2803202

As if being a moron with a gun wasn’t dangerous enough, how about 2 morons, who are on a roof, and are obssesed with wrestling? Recipe for disaster! Backyard wrestling has got to be the stupidest and most dangerous sport mankind has ever come up with… I think I’ve over used the words moron and stupid… trying to think of another word… incompetent? I guess that works but it doesn’t feel insulting enough…(haha i just searched thesaurous.com for words relating with incompetent, and one of them was bush… This was obviously an american site because of the next word, bush league. SOme body hates their leader) Okay, so i’ve got, idiotic and mental. Good enough. SO back to the origional post, these two guys are idiotic. As I said, two mental MEN, yes men, on a roof. Enough tlk, let’s see it. http://www.ifilm.com/video/2807706/collection/248/channel/viralvideo

So, that’s what you get when you smoke pot haha, joking. But seriously, If your ever going to do stupid things like these 3…. guys, then make sure that you going to get it on film, like they did. This will give us all something to laugh at, and show the world that your a nut case. You mght be able to make a name for yourself, even though after a few jumps off of a roof, your bound to forget somethings.

Seeing Silver

December 4th, 2006

Seeing as how I forgot to post about my last wrestling tournament, I’m justy going to post about it along with the latest tournament. Both tournaments ended in a silver for me, so thats 2 silvers. The first tournament, I didn’t have a chance for gold. But this latest tournament (last saturday), I almost had the gold. I almost pinned the guy, but he was olcer, bigger, and quicker than me, so he turned the match around, and pinned me. Oh well. Two silvers is good enough for me!:D

Whole new room

December 1st, 2006

So I went to IKEA last weekend to pick out some new funriture for my bedroom that I’m redoing. I still have to paint the room, but that will be easy. The hard part will be trying to take all of the crap that I held on to over the years out of my room. I couldn’t believe how much junk I have from magazines to small little toys from stuffed animals and stuff like that. I doesn’t help that my room is WAY over packed with around 7 different peices of funriture, all of which are stuffed with either clothes, old school stuff, and some of the most random things ever (elelctric pencil sharpener, little electric toy car, blocks of wood from shop class last year :S) But now that i only have 4 peices from IKEA, my room will have way more space.

Congratulations!

November 8th, 2006

Congratulations to Keith Urban who won Male Artist of the Year last night at the CMT music awards. Sadly, he wasn’t there to accept his award, and we hope he can get back to us A.S.A.P. I think this is the third year in a row that he has won this award. So, I guess he’s doing great!

What exactly is communication?

November 7th, 2006

Communication. There are a lot of things that can fit under that category. But with age and time, people’s perspectives become different. At a very young age (like a baby) a person can’t speak yet. So the way that they communicate is through crying and grabbing and making noises. Then as you get older, you learn to talk, and then learn to use the telephone. Then, within the pre-teen and forward years, the internet becomes a valuable tool. So valuable in fact, that the internet becomes the main tool of some peoples jobs, and even lives. But other than words, there are signals that are used to take the place of words. Of course, not everybody learns sign language, but some people do, and they use it for a lot of their communicating.

But the most fascinating of all, is the use of languages. I mean, how do these people come up with whole new words for every single thing. How did different languages come to be anyways? Why didn’t everybody just stick to what they knew? This is one explanation, but it still leaves some gaps. Maybe, when people started to expand outwards and began exploring the world, their view of the main language became sloppy and more slang, until it became so bad that it became a totally different language. But this is the gap. What do languages like Japanese and English have in common that you could say “Maybe they all are from one language.”? Try to find one word from both languages that sounds the same and means the same thing. I highly doubt that you’ll find one. And the other explanation is that some dude just decided to make a whole new language. But who makes up a new word for everything? It would take forever.

The only thing left to talk about is the super fast communication of today. There are so many ways to find somebody and communicate with them. You can go onto an instant messenger like MSN for example and see if their online. If they aren’t, then you can send an e-mail. After sending that e-mail, you could phone their house to see if they are home. If they aren’t home, they might just have their cell phone on them. 4 ways right here that you could get a hold of a person, and after finding out that they’re not online, then you could do the e-mailing and the calling at the same time. Within 5 minutes, you can find somebody, wherever they are, whatever their doing.

We live in what scientists are calling the “me” generation. Everything is about me (or you) and it has to be now, fast, this instant, etc. although it’s not always a bad thing, it can be frustrating when things don’t go our way. For example, if we can’t get a hold of a friend because their not online, not at home, and don’t have a cell phone. All of this technology helps, but raises our hopes up to the point that when things don’t go our way, we get angry and stressed out.

There are so many ways to communicate, and I’ve only scratched the surface.
